Kuolm randõ | Latvija

Kuolm randõ (Three shores) is a fresh and unique contemporary and world music project with reference to the Livonian culture and language.

The Livonian language (listed in UNESCO's Atlas of the World's Languages in Danger) has had a great impact on the formation of our country – Latvia.

The music itself has many levels with different sound nuances and moods, discovering new musical horizons and at the same following the traditional canons.

The musicians participating in this project are experienced in a variety of genres, have collaborated with many different musicians are united by their deep interest in academic, jazz and world music.

In 2018, the Livonian-English poetry collection "Trilium" was published and in 2019 music was composed with lyrics of the three contemporary Livonian poets. The language is kept alive as long as it is used – spoken, written or sung. Thus, sustainable values are created, building our future cultural heritage.

In 2022 Kuolm randõ was among the participants at Fenno-Ugria Night during the Tallinn Music Week.

This year, celebrating project’s 5th anniversary, an important milestone was reached with the release of the first vinyl record No1. This album is a tribute and gratitude to all Livonians who have lived, are living and will live.
