Shahin During (Turkey/Netherlands) is a widely recognized percussionist, educator, and producer who has spent over two decades mastering diverse rhythmic traditions from around the world. He has studied with masters in Cuba, Turkey, India, Spain, and Africa. Actively involved in the global world music and jazz scenes, Shahin excels both as a performer and a teacher, specializing in traditional percussion techniques and world rhythms.
Shahin has been teaching at the HKU Conservatory in the Netherlands for 18 years and serves as a guest lecturer at various European and international music institutions, including in Istanbul, Canada, China, Mexico, and Latvia.
With international concert experience spanning over 50 countries, he has performed at prestigious festivals such as North Sea Jazz, WOMAD, the London Jazz Festival, Amsterdam Roots, and many more. Shahin has collaborated with numerous acclaimed artists in the Netherlands and internationally. Additionally, he has founded several musical ensembles, including Arifa and Mundus Quartet.
