Porta festival starting this week!

With the percussion workshop led by Abbos Kosimov, a performance by the wonderous singer Maria Karopanova from Udmurtia and Estonian etnofolk punks Svjata Vatra the 17th annual Porta festival will begin this Friday, 3rd of November. The festival will consist of 5 concerts spread throughout two weekends.

The first week will continue with a traditional concert at "Dailes" house of music, where spectators will have the chance to hear Karyna Gomes from Guinea-Bissau and the much skilled Abbos Kosimov collaborating with the local academically experimental group Xylem Trio. On Sunday Gomes will perform at the lovely city of Saldus with a solo show as well.

The second week of the festival will bring people together in the city of Cesis, where the eccentric electrofolk diva Onuka will give her first concert in this region. She will be accompanied by the Buryatian throat singer Shono – yet they'll play a separate gig in Riga as well, creating new sounds together with the Japanese string master Oki.

Tickets still available.
