Ambassadors of Free Ukraine - group "DakhaBrakha" will perform on the Grand Stage of Mežaparks

The world music quartet "DakhaBrakha" from Kiev is currently touring with concerts over almost the whole world, and in Latvia the performance of the Ukrainian quartet is scheduled on August 25th at 20.00 on the Grand Stage of Mežaparks. The group's visit to the capital of Latvia will take place within the framework of their Baltic tour, and it is organized by the association "Pasaules Mūzika".

For years, DakhaBrakha musicians' embodying ”Ethnohaos” genre, has called themselves "the ambassadors of Free Ukraine". It is possible to even hear shouts such as "Stop Putin!" and "End the War!" in their concerts. The schedule of musicians is currently very busy, with constant flights and concerts being a daily part of DakhaBrakha. Just a few weeks after Russia invaded Ukraine, DakhaBrakha had started a tour in the United States:

"We believe in international support and we rely on the Ukrainian army the most! In these circumstances, we have canceled the concerts in Ukraine, but we hope that they’ll be able to take place in the near future. But for now we will be playing concerts around the world to support Ukraine and raise funds to aid Ukraine in this war. We will win! Glory to Ukraine! ”

The group "DakhaBrakha" has performed in our country several times. The quartet has delighted the Latvian audience at both the world music festival “PORTA” and the festival “Komēta”. Last autumn, the band performed on the stage of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet.

The name of the quartet in ancient Ukrainian means "to give/to take". The group DakhaBrakha was founded in 2004 by Vladyslav Troitskyi, the director of the avant-garde theater, at the DAKH Center for Contemporary Art in Kiev. The theatrical environment has had a significant impact on the group's performances, which are always complemented by theatrical effects. Experimenting with Ukrainian folk music, the artists have complemented it with the rhythms of the surrounding world, creating a bright, unique and unforgettable image of "DakhaBrakha", which helps to introduce listeners to the possibilities of Ukrainian traditional music.

Tickets for the "DakhaBrakha" concert can be purchased at "Biļešu paradīze" sales points throughout Latvia and on the Internet. Until June 25th, tickets will cost 35 euros, until July 25th – 45 euros, but until August 25th - 55 euros.
