A warm, summery and musical gift. Porto 2023 tickets are on sale right now!
The summer concerts of the World Music Festival Porta 2023 will fill Riga's courtyards and intersections, the most atmospheric houses and the world music loving ears for two days.
Festival artists from Canada, Morocco, Estonia, Norway, Finland and Latvia will reveal both energetic and ticklingly sparkling, as well as deeply rooted and calmly suggestive sides of world music.
On July 28th, the opening night of the festival will take place at Fon Stricka villa, where we'll enjoy our country's genre virtuosos Rahu The Fool, a strong, deep voice, ancestral violin and magical bow lyre performed by Finnish artist Päivi Hirvonen and a Hellish Five guy band from Canada - Le Diable à Cinq.
On July 29th, on two stages in the Ethnographic Open Air Museum of Latvia, we will indulge in the rhythms of Morocco with the performance of Slatucada and the amazing vocal and zither experiments of the Estonian Duo Ruut. The Finnish band Okra Playgroud will present us not only with vocal power, but also Scandinavian rockiness, while the Norwegian solo artist, tuba player Daniel Herskedal will compliment festival aura with a harmony of worldly peace.
What would a festival announcement be without a little intrigue? - on the second day of the festival, a band will take on the big stage; a band that allows crowds to break their chairs in excitement and also create a real sense of community and being together for small companies of friends. Who are they? - we will keep it a secret for now, so that there is a moment announcement joy for the next year as well.
